The Devil's Footprints

Image
There've been multiple claims over the centuries of the phenomena that are known as the Devil's footprints. There've been claims of such mysterious hoof-like prints in multiple parts of the world, with many different variations of stories and just as many theories on what they could really be. Because there's so many different stories I'm going to stick to the more common, well known stories that I could find information on. While each of these legends share the similarities of the 'hoof-prints', each one defers in their own way. Some a little more crazy then the previous. Exe Estuary England: The Devil's Snow Tracks In February 1855, around Exe Estuary in East and South Devon, England after a heavy snowfall, trails of hoof-like prints appeared overnight in the snow covering a total distance of 40 to 100 miles. The hoof-prints were suggested to be the tracks of the Devil with multiple theories circling the incident. The hoof-prints measured about four ...

Carin Streufert - 1991 Home Town Teen Murdered

Image
Carin Streufert grew up in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, surrounded by a large family and many friends. She graduated from GRHS in 1990, and besides being a good student, she also played the saxophone in a band and was a swim team captain. She spent her college freshman year at the U of M in Minneapolis. She was beginning to think about a career in early childhood development. However, that changed forever on June 15, 1991, just two weeks before her 19th birthday. In the early morning hours of June 15th, Carin Streufert, a popular 18 year old girl, was kidnapped. She was last seen alive by her friends at approximately 2:25 am in the morning when she had left the Grand Rapids Perkins to walk home, but she never made it. Her disappearance was unexplained for several days, with the town in shock at the missing teen.  Until Guy Alan Sullivan walked into the Itasca County Sheriff's office at 3:00 am on June 19th. He told police that his friend Swanson committed the murder and over the...

Image
The Brown Lady of Raynham Hall is a famous ghost that haunts Raynham Hall in Norfolk, England, and it became one of the most popular hauntings in the United Kingdom due to the above photograph that Captain Hubert C. Provand took. The photo was first published in the Country Life magazine in 1936. Raynham Hall itself was a grand estate with roots that stretched back centuries, and for 400 years the Raynham Hall had been the seat of the Townshend family. According to the legend, the apparition of the Brown Lady is Dorothy Walpole. She was born on September 18th, 1686 at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, England. She was the thirteenth child born into the illustrious Walpole family. Her parents were Robert Walpole, who was a member of the Parliament, and Mary Burwell. She was the sister of Robert Walpole, who is generally regarded as the first Prime Minister of Great Britain. But the family is best known because of her nephew, Horace Walpole, who was a author and wrote the gothic novel The Castle...

Lakeview Cemetery

Image
This one is close to my hometown and one of the few haunted locations I've been to. It's known as one of the most haunted cemeteries in Minnesota. Lakeview Cemetery is located in Buhl, Minnesota. It opened in 1913 and still exists today. Open to the public, the cemetery is still a paranormal hotspot of sorts with many visitors reporting supernatural occurrences.  But first, a little history lesson… Burials in Lakeview Cemetery first began in 1913 around the same time Shaw Hospital was built. The hospital housed people who were sick with mental illnesses and tuberculosis. Eventually, these patients died at the hospital and a new problem arose, there was no budget to use to bury them properly. The hospital decided then to bury them in what's called Potter's Field. The majority of these people buried in Potter's Field died in the first two decades of the past century. Most of the dead contained early immigrant miners or the very young who died during one of the two i...
